ENDLESS INNER OCEAN
Discover how Felipe constructed his newest creation, using only his everyday cel phone.
In the midst of the sudden predicament of the ongoing pandemic, all of my plans centering around my musical career for 2020 slithered out of my hands, in April of last year.
I can honestly say however that the quarantine period was everything I could hope for. It was here that, with enough room and tranquility, I could fully understand who is this grownup Felipe. Who this isolated Felipe is, who paradoxically is part of the entire universe, just like everyone else, born alone and will die alone...
Each distinct feeling can bring its own narrative, integrated into an endless dimension which overshadows existence itself. This dimension is the infinite interior ocean.
And in this manner, triggered by a friend's suggestion of a song, I recorded in garage band with my old Iphone 6, (which has since been stolen) the song which would form the starting point for this artistic journey: "Fresh Waters". Later came "Two Horses" and then "Map of Myself".
That's when I began to think that more and more creative urges from past works were coming to the surface.. and... all of a sudden the impetus for my second album arose... the “Quarantine Album”. And then songs came pouring out. And songs outside of the context of the album also appeared.... that was the year where I composed the most songs ever.
I felt as if I would somehow start working on the third album before the second was even completed. It was a step forward, beyond what I had ever accomplished, inspired by my pseudonym project, “Nothing But It” (which I always thought was the most honest and a true representation of Felipe Bandeira). I decided that the album would not need to be recorded in fancy studios nor tons of money put into it.
So that being said, the entire album was recorded on garage band on my cell phone and I perceived right there that all my distinct facets were being integrated, uniting Felipe Bandeira and “Nothing But It”. The track “Ocean” was even “stolen” from the album “Post Nature”, from the song “Nothing But It” because I felt that it was the connection of time/space between the two personalities and went along perfectly with the concept and narrative of the album.
Nearly 20 songs were completed within the proposed 14 selected for this project based on our album length, which would come to be called, “Endless Inner Ocean”.

Product of a musical family and influenced from a very early age by popular music, along with Brazilian music in general, and rock, folk, jazz and blues.
Luiz Gonzaga do Nascimento was his first idol and musical reference, in addition to his father, Jr. Magalhães- guitarist and singer- who taught him his first songs.
Since his first interactions with others, Felipe has demonstrated a strong creative presence, composing small musical excerpts to themes related to his interactions.
He started playing the guitar at the age of 7, forging paths as an instrumentalist while
already composing and exploring the instrumental and vocal universe of João Bosco, under the influence of his father. Later, at the age of 13, he started playing guitar with his first band formed by childhood friends.
The influence of rock gradually began to play a more prominent role for Felipe, with Pink Floyd having a strong impact on him. At the age of 15, he composed "Walking Shoes", a song that integrates his first Album "Sons da Resiliência", released on January 25, 2018. Drawing on songs from his adolescence, he recorded this song with members of his first band.
At the age of 19, he enrolled in the “Popular Music” course (composition and arrangement) at UFBA (Bahia Federal University), focusing on classical music. This resulted in his latest work, which draws on this theme.
Felipe points to Paul Simon as his greatest musical idol and also mentions others such as Milton Nascimento, Bach and Radiohead.
